ICI upholds the principles of Responsible CareŽ which is our industry's commitment to continual improvement in all aspects of health, safety, environmental performance, product stewardship and to openness in communication about our activities and achievements with our stakeholders.
We have incorporated the principles of Responsible CareŽ into the heart of the way we manage our businesses. Our Responsible Care Management System encompasses our Safety, Security, Health and Environmental policy and all of our safety, health, environment, product stewardship and related community standards and guidelines globally.
External stakeholders were actively involved in its development. Lloyds Register QA has verified our system against the UK Responsible Care codes, the revised 2004 American Chemical Council Responsible Care Management System and the 2002 Security Code, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Business Charter for Sustainable Development.
Implementation of the management system across the Group is helping our drive towards sustainability.
Compliance is monitored by a three-tier auditing process (management, specialist and operational) and an Annual Letter of Assurance from business CEOs to the ICI Board.
